Meet Brenda

I never believed I could be an Artist. My perspective changed in 1998 while watching a QVC segment, featuring Donna Dewberry and her method of One Stroke Painting. Looking back three years later, there was no indication just how significant One Stroke would become in my life.

After receiving my first One Stroke order of teaching guides, paints, brushes and video I swiftly placed them in the closet only to move them to our new home 6 months later. Once again Donna Dewberry was on QVC and I ordered yet another One Stroke Painting kit packed full, a book, paints, patterns and brushes. Panicked that my dear husband would be on the receiving end of the UPS driver, I quickly found and opened the First kit I had ordered. I watched the video and could not believe how simple Donna made it look and how difficult it looked to me. Setting out paints, paper and brushes I began to paint along with the video. At first I felt Discouraged, however I never gave up. Every free moment became dedicated to mastering this technique. While searching high and low for a One Stroke Certified Instructor (OSCI) in my area I joined the One Stroke Email group. From this group came many new friends and the much needed encouragement I needed to continue painting.

Two years later and still searching for an OSCI, I made my first visit to the One Stroke studio in Altamonte Springs, Fl. and for the first time I received instruction from an OSCI, Gail Munk. I would visit the studio two more times that summer just to take class this time my instructor was Terri Newberry. These visits gave me the confidence and courage to become an OSCI. Becoming an OSCI would allow me to give personalized instruction to others that I never had. In September 2001 I attended the Cincinnati, Ohio Certification and became a One Stroke Certified Instructor.

Jumping right into the teaching aspect, I began booking classes at the Michaels Arts and Crafts stores in Sterling, Reston and now Vienna, Virginia where I continue to teach. Through my teaching I hope to encourage and inspire my new One Stroke Friends.

Knowing the importance of enhancing my skills, I have attended:
February 2002 Las Vegas Painting Convention, March 2002 One Stroke Continuing Education, August 2002 Wall and Furniture Specialist Certification, March 2003 One Stroke Continuing Education and in September 2003 the Professional Faux Finish Specialist Certification.

It is through my continuing education and love of painting that enables me to fulfill my dream of creating a business utilizing the One Stroke technique.

I am a native Virginian currently residing in Sterling, Virginia with my husband Danny, my five daughters and I am the Nana to five Grandsons.

I thank Donna, Marc, all of the staff at Dewberry Designs and Plaid Enterprises for leading me on this journey.

Sincerely,
Brenda
